The Parkrose-Argay Development Study explored opportunities to create a complete and connected neighborhood on over 30 acres of urban farmland in an under-served and diverse area of outer NE Portland. Walker Macy created a concept plan for a walkable, bikeable, sustainable and community-oriented development that honors the property owner’s long-standing connection to the neighborhood and to the land. In the process, the team considered market conditions, financial feasibility, diverse community perspectives and public policy goals for equitable growth. The plan creates a community-supported framework for growth that provides opportunities for urban agriculture and includes a range of housing, including affordable options as well as direct connections to Luuwit View Park and shared views of Mt Hood and Mt St Helens.
