Docks Promenade

The Sacramento River has profoundly shaped California and its capital, but its riverfront has been off-limits for generations. The Docks Promenade reopens the Sacramento Riverfront to the community after decades of industrial uses. With a multi-use path, a historic excursion train, overlooks, and signature public art, the Promenade’s design celebrates the site’s legacy as Sacramento’s rail and shipping hub. It will become the cornerstone for a new riverfront neighborhood envisioned in the adjacent Docks area. Walker Macy collaborated with environment artist and sculptor Ned Kahn to create the “Cloud Vessel,” a centerpiece of the Promenade.
