Amazon’s headquarters stands at the center of Seattle’s transformed South Lake Union district. With plazas, roof gardens, public art, green streets, and integration of existing, historic character, its landscape demonstrates the value of public outdoor spaces as workplace and urban amenities, while setting a high benchmark for sustainable redevelopment. This project was one of several blocks redeveloped for Amazon, along with public realm improvements connecting them, including an alley converted into a pedestrian open space, and shared streetscapes on Terry Avenue.
