Allen Institute for Brain Science

As part of South Lake Union’s transformation from an industrial area to a sustainable, high-density mixed-use district, a historic car dealership was repurposed as a new home for the innovative Allen Institute for Brain Science. Walker Macy led the site design, which integrated the block into South Lake Union’s unique, pedestrian-oriented new fabric. The design respects the privacy of the research facility’s employees while providing a backdrop for public art.
