Walker Macy is working with Skanska and LMN as a key member of the progressive-design build team to replace the existing waterproofing membrane over the extensive underground UW Medical Center (Montlake) hospital and lab space, which is failing. This work requires complete removal of a 1.8-acre site (including primary building entrances and active courtyards) and the redesign of vehicular and pedestrian arrival spaces on-site and in the City right-of-way. We are leading the design of the new site over the new waterproofing to elevate the quality of the Medical Center landscape and improve its integration into the campus landscape. The new site will provide a more intuitive and accessible arrival experience, safe and efficient passenger loading and lab deliveries, and contemplative garden spaces.
