New Walker Macy Promotions

Walker Macy has promoted Saumya Kini, Nathan Metzger, Nicholas Buesking, and Taj Hanson to Senior Associate, and William Morales to Associate. All five have brought positive energy and change to our team through their expertise in design, planning, and project management and have shown dedication to our collective success and growth. We are excited to see them taking this next step in their careers and look forward to their engagement in the future development of the firm.

Saumya Kini is an instrumental member of Walker Macy’s planning and urban design work. With her recent work on projects including Portland Community College’s Facilities Plan and the Duwamish Sea Level Rise Adaptation Strategy, Saumya is continuing Walker Macy’s leadership in projects with a focus on social equity, climate resilience, and regional environmental initiatives.

Nathan Metzger is an exemplary landscape architect who brings his interest in resiliency and ecological planting approaches to the urban landscape. He has experience working on a variety of projects ranging from campus design to mixed-use developments, and has played key roles in design and construction on complex projects such as UW Montlake Medical Center, Victor Steinbrueck Park, and UW Bothell Residential Village.

Nicholas Buesking strives to weave the natural and built landscape together, creating places that are exciting to experience and support natural ecologies. He oversaw construction on Eugene’s award-winning Downtown Riverfront Park and is managing several significant projects including the Portland Art Museum’s Rothko Pavilion.

Taj Hanson’s professional motivation is rooted in his interest in community development, design activism, and the transformation of underutilized urban spaces. His current work includes a diverse array of project types and scales, including the PSU Place Matters Design Competition, the Kiwanda Corridor Improvement Project, and Eugene’s Downtown Riverfront Plaza.

William Morales has grown from a supporting team member to a highly collaborative manager of some of our most challenging projects, including UC Santa Cruz’s Kresge College Renovation and Portland Public Schools’ Ida B. Wells High School Modernization.
