On November first, Walker Macy Principal Chelsea McCann will join Portland State University’s Architecture department to present three case studies in Difficult Landscapes – Portland Japanese Garden’s Cultural Crossing, South Waterfront Greenway, and Mendenhall Glacier. One of the consistent challenges our firm faces is the transformation of complex, vulnerable, or damaged sites into resilient places that respond to changing use. In this presentation, Chelsea will reveal how climate change and unusual site conditions have influenced our design approach. The environmental context in which we work challenges us to integrate unique technical solutions into dramatic site planning and design.
